The English Premier League. Week #10. Five things we learnt this past week.

Image
Does it get any more interesting? Hell yeah, it does. The EPL has hit the 10th week, and the season is starting to take shape. While Arsenal, and Arsene Wenger, continue to rise from downtrodden positions, Everton do not seem to know how to get out of troubled waters, as they lost yet again to a Leciester city team, who are in crisis themselves. Also, at the Hawthorns, it was all thorns for the blue boys from Manchester, but they came out unscathed, much to the chagrin of Jose Mourinho's man united.  But here are the #5 things we learnt this past weekend. Stuttering Spurs Should Shadow Serge's swagger. To the surprise of many, the highly controversial Ivorian had teamed up with Pochettion's Tottenham side in the closing moments of the summer transfer window. Originally, the talented right back was rumored to be heading to the red half of manchester, after reports revealed his agent had met with representatives from Manchester united, but he eventually...

AM I CRAZY?

Image
Am I crazy to want my heart broken? I have loved and I have been loved back. I had my first boyfriend in secondary school and trust me, it was no puppy love at all. I loved him for real and I was even convinced at some point that he would be my husband as the feeling was too deep. We loved each other with a love that was more than ordinary, there are people from my secondary school days who still tease me from time to time asking us to come back together. Our relationship was everyone's envy 😊 I love love that you don't have to try so hard to make happen but when it does happen, you both want to guard it with all that you've got. [This brings to my mind stories from Harlequins novels ^_^] So I just realized that my heart has never really been broken. I do experience heart aches after breakups for reasons such as; I miss him, or miss what we could have had, or just feeling stupid for dating such a person in the first place 👀  but never have I ever had someone r...

Help!!!

"I can't do this, anymore. I've tried to deal with this every way I know how. I have tried to be happy, I have tried to get your attention, Lord knows I've tried to be the best I can be for you all. But, in doing this, I have lost myself, and I can't be found again. You may chalk this all up to me being "my usual attention-seeking" self, but I assure you it isn't. I have never desired your attention "just because". All I've ever wanted was the help I needed so desperately. You see, I'm not happy. I laugh the loudest, play the hardest and make everyone laugh more, but the darkness in me has grown to the point where I am consumed by it... If you're reading this, then I'm not around to make you laugh anymore, and I'm sorry. I really am, but I can't do this, anymore." This was the letter his people had left of him. You see, he had taken his own life. He had ended it. Now, most of you might scream and say "oh, ...

I’M NOT HOMOPHOBIC BUT I DON’T LIKE GAYS

Image
For a while I have always wanted to say something about the LGBT community but I find myself not getting the right voice and the right words, maybe the fear of being tagged homophobic got me. Shoot it, I’m not homophobic but I don’t like gays. That sounds homophobic right? Yeah, I was thinking you will say that. However before you label me with that cruel use of word let’s educate ourselves a little more. A phobia is a fear you have for something, you detest that thing (e.g spider) as a matter of fact you can’t stand it, you’ll rather die than be found close to the subject of your phobia. Now to be homophobic you have to hate gays, lesbians, bisexuals and everyone else that belongs to that community and this hate isn’t just something you feel in your heart without expressing, then it won’t be a phobia. When it’s your phobia everyone close knows it is, and it becomes your unconscious or sometimes conscious goal to rid the world of it.   So, if I am to be homo...

Finding Your IKIGAI

Image
Hi there! How was your weekend? I had a nice one. So in my last post -" What's Yours? " (go read if you haven't), I promised to share with you something I learnt recently. Let's get started, shall we! Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being." It is thought of as the reason why you want to get up in the morning, what makes you enjoy life, makes you happy and gives you fulfillment. The word ikigai is usually used to indicate the source of value in one's life or the virtues that make your life worthwhile. Ikigai = Purpose To know your reason for being and why you want to wake up in the morning or what gives you fulfillment is quite easy, just follow the steps below; {You might need to get a notepad and pen here} a) What are those skills you have that you can be paid for?  b) What do you have that the world needs? c) What are you good at? d) What do you love doing? *What the world needs + What you love = your MIS...

The English Premier League.Week #9. Five things we learnt this past week

Image
Week 9 was littered  with mouth watering clashes as Everton hosted Arsenal, and Tottenham welcomed Liverpool, but it was Manchester United's first loss of the season that caught the most attention. Kevin De bruyne continued his good form as he provided yet another assist for leroy Sane to wrap up all three points at home against Burnley, and open a 5 point gap for the Citizens at the summit of the table. Also, Chelsea mustered a miraculous comeback, following Conte's tactical genius, winning 4-2 at the Bridge. In addition, there were important victories away from home for Liecester City and Bournemouth, to move them up the table. But what are the things we learnt this past week in the EPL. 1. Nemanja could be Manchester United's autoMATIC, but he has to study the manual. Following man united's lacklustre outing against newly promoted Huddersfield Town, questions have began to arise over their ability to actually compete for the English premier league title,...

‘THE CARNIVOUROUS CITY’ BY TONI KAN: A READER'S THOUGHT

Image
When Abel left for Lagos in search of his missing brother, little did he know that Lagos is a carnivorous city that devours you to satisfy its insatiable appetite? The carnivorous city is a story of adventure, love, relationships, family, greed, hustle, self discovery, identity, unintentional transformation, reality, and all that makes Lagos so distasteful yet desirable. It is a story of human struggle for survival in a city where everyone is a soldier on the war front soaked in the disillusionment of their ecstasy.   It teaches you to live but not to be too sure of living. It breaks you, bends you, moulds you, makes you, and then kills you. The novel is a tour guide. It takes you places and feeds your imagination; there is the Ikorodu, Ikeja, Yaba, Mushin, Ilupeju, Onigbongbo, Ogba, Egbeda, Shomolu, Onipanu part of Lagos; there is also the Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria island part of this same Lagos. It dichotomises class relatively. It introduces you to people and explores v...

I want to face Super Eagles at World Cup – Messi

Image
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has reportedly picked a match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria as one of his favorites in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. In the last two editions of the number one football event on FIFA’S football calendar, the Super Eagles lost to Argentina, albeit narrowly, with the Lille goalkeeper in between the pipes. Enyeama’s best performance against the South American powerhouse was at Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg on June 12, 2010, when he prevented Messi from scoring on numerous occasions and picked up the Man of the Match award in the process. Reacting after Messi inspired Barcelona to a 3-2 win against Real Madrid on Sunday, Enyeama tweeted : ‘’I am not sure that he is human because he is so fast, precise and so good. Messi be bossing el Classico’’ A Twitter user Olukayode Layade replied Enyeama, ‘’@vinpee …and he bossed you at the World Cup too ?. Na joke oo .’’ He fired back : ‘’@rocakay I bossed him bro. I was called el phenomenon by him an...

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE WEEK 8

Image
5 THINGS TO LEARN FROM THE PAST WEEK It was an action packed week this weekend, as a number of high profile teams lost. There was also the draw at Anfield. Manchester City did demolished Stoke city in the highest scoring match of the weekend. But what exactly did we learn this past week? #1 They don't get better than kevin De bruyne, do they? Sometimes, stories are written in the stars.  Even still, they don't get more interesting than the Kevin De Bruyne story. After failing to fully hit the heights that he has now, whilst under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, he was shipped out to German side Wolfsburg in the summer of 2014 for just €18 million. From that very season he became a fan favorite at the Volkswagen Arena as he managed to rack up both assists and goals to help his side qualify for the continental championship. Chelsea lost a gem, and he became the chief corner stone at VFL Wolfsburg. Fast forward to today, De bruyne has become a m...
