LUNATICS

Image
Lunatic! The sound of that word can make one belch. When one walk the slums one will see tons of lunatics everywhere.  I was in a neighborhood one day waiting to get something done, then I saw this young man dressed in Lagos bin. He looked like he hasn't bathed all his life. To my surprise, he bought pepper from a shop and begged the seller to grind it for him to make stew.. I exclaimed!! a mad man buying pepper? But then after observing and making enquries from those in the neighborhood, I realised he was not entirely mad; Atleast, not yet.  After some days, the same mad man I saw buying pepper was seen in traffic begging for money. So I thought deeply "Nobody was born a lunatic, so how do people get mad?'  Now the idea of running mad is not just about some bad juju, because mad people are everywhere even places where juju is not recognised. There are different kinds of madness, it's diversified; there are typical mad people, these ones are entire...

God Bless The OKADA Man

Recently on a salvage evening, I got caught up in the rain, this was no ordinary rain and the circumstances could not just let me hide from it. I had to get to work, because no one will be there and if am not there heads will roll, the standing order was “madam even if it is raining thunder, get there” So into the rain I went with some of my most priced valuables, I have no car, no uber driver (who am I kidding can I even afford it) my pilot usually was any okada man. As I walked in the rain getting soaked to my underwear, I kept thinking to myself, I can not find an okada  now, it's raining cat and dogs, and with the nature of okada's, nothing protect you from the rain, it's just more like my “leggdisbenz”, although this moves faster, so I kept walking  hoping to find one. I got to the bus stop and it was still raining monkeys, no one is trying to get a ride everyone is hiding, I wanted to but I can't afford to (even if it rains thunder kept ringing in my ears). S...

OH NO! IT'S MONDAY AGAIN...

Image
" Mondays are just no fun!" Seeing that a number of people feel this ☝ way about Mondays, I decided to bring a relaxed, not-so-serious angle to today's Monday post. I personally don't like waking up to remember it's Monday morning (except you love Mondays), like.....aaaaaarrrgh!😏 But really though, why do we 'dislike' Mondays? {I'm being careful not to use the word "hate" here} If you browse through various social media platforms on a Monday morning, you are most likely going to find quotes, memes, graphics and the likes about how "direful" it is to face Monday & how people wish the weekend never came to an end. I did a little research this morning by asking some of my colleagues at work why they dislike Mondays. Here are some of their reasons: E.O: " Because I get to wear shirts and I really don't like shirts " ( I must say, this cracked me up...lol). He went on to say, " The rush on Mo...
Here we go. I said I'd pop back up, and I'm a man of my word (when it suits me, I daresay) and I'm even typing this inside public transport, sef. That's how much I love you. Last time, I got two people that made me their McM, and even though I'm usually proud, and I should say I don't want pity McM'ness,  beht who are we kidding here? I thank you both. Today is Friday and I've been thinking since monday, and I've decided to tell you about myself. But, here's the catch, you have to tell me about you, first. Oh, before I forget, I pride myself on being a know-it-all....

MCM and Noodles

So, I’m in front of my laptop contemplating how to start this post. That is, after long hours deliberating on the perfect catchy introduction. Well, after many false starts and brain racking hours, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Cassandra Clare, Enid Blyton and all the other awesome authors that have shaped my diction, imagination and literary skills. Una do well. Because, I still have no idea where to start. Hian!!!!                 My breakfast of noodles and… you know what? Forget what’s inside the noodles, sef. It’s not like I’ll tell you that I put corned beef and turkey in there, somewhere. That would be too much information on a Monday. As I was saying, I’m here wondering whose MCM I am, and I just had to laugh at myself. In case you don’t know, MCM is Man Crush Monday, a term that’s come to be used for any guy that you like, admire, love, have a crush on or, approv...

WHAT NEXT?

Image
As excited as I was about putting my service year behind me, I still couldn’t help the fear of,  ‘What next?’ ‘Where will I move to?’  ‘Am I going back home?’ (There was even no way on earth I was gonna do that!) ‘Will I get a job immediately?’ ‘What if I can’t find a job before I exhaust my savings?’ ‘When will I get married?’ ‘Do I want to make money first before settling down?’ Bla bla bla…… No, but really, I’m sure quite a number of youths in Nigeria called to obey the clarion call in the Batch B’ 2016 set are really looking forward to never having to wear khaki again by October. But how prepared are you to face the ‘outside world?’ No more ‘allawee’, you know, as small as N19,800 may seem, knowing that you will get that alert every month has its own relief  *shines teeth*. How about how much you will miss some of the good, “weird” and “crazy” guys you met while obeying the clarion call? What I miss the most...

That Awkward Moment…. By Gelax

Oh hi there! Let me engage your imagination a little, some time ago I went to my sister’s office to get something (we used to work in the same agency) and as I walked in I just had to do a double take…oh my gosh! There was this super cute dude seated at the reception…I tell you he was an epitome of TDH*wink*. I also couldn’t help notice how very calm and collected he looked. So I stepped out of the office and signaled to my sister and her colleague to come outside as I didn’t want to embarrass myself any further after staring at the guy for about 30 secs like a MUMU (cover face)   My sis and her colleague came outside and I was like “Who is that cute guy in your office?” “Oh I knew you would notice him” said my sister’s colleague who by the way is my namesake [I guess being naughty& mischievous comes with our name] “He’s too handsome and he has been calm despite the fact that my ‘oga’ (boss)   has delayed him since morning” she continued smiling mischievously –whi...
