Watch That Caption!!!

 I finished my national youth service recently, and in the spirit of POP, I went on instagram in search of POP pictures I can like, or probably repost. I am a sucker for captions, so I was on the lookout.( P.s this is the only time I will admit to myself that I was a corp member cos am not very patriotic).  I saw quite a number of cool and colorful pictures after refreshing and refreshing, ones I might have clicked the like button for. However I noticed a terrible trend, I mean a sickening trend. This trend is not peculiar to ex corp member pictures, this trend is something have constantly noticed with social media post over the years so I think it is high time I wrote about it.

Like what the shoot is wrong with us? “Hell No” am not inclusive. Why do you post pictures with terrible captions? I mean who are you fighting with? Who is your enemy? Because you seem to acknowledge them with every post. Every post is a constant reminder that someone is your enemy, that someone doesn’t want you to do good in life, that someone didn’t want you to achieve this or that. Who the hack is that person, really who is he? Cos am just tired of seeing a new brides pictures and instead of her appreciating the new life she is about to start, she is acknowledging, that none existence personal that didn’t want her to get married.

I am really tired (I know am not alone on this) of seeing all this terrible captions to beautiful posts, that will always make reference to one perceived village people that won’t let you rest. I know, there are bad people, really mean people. I mean people that are so jealous and might do anything to bring you down, but you don’t have to acknowledge them with every post, that’s too much power you dashing out for free, if they really exist.

I get it. Life can be difficult 80 percent of the time, and to achieve your set goals, you have to experience a lot of pangs of distress. That will (don’t forget that) make you better and prepared for that big break you have been waiting for. I think it’s high time we began to realize, that not having a smooth ride through life is a part of being human, and not every trial you go through as anything to do with anyone. When life throws lemon at you, you go ahead and make some damn good lemonade with the right attitude.

And when you feel, you have a reason to be grateful and post on social media, so that others can celebrate with you. Please don’t take away the joy in it, by being hateful and resentful, because by doing that you actually didn’t learn anything through life. Acknowledging the effort you’ve made and what God as helped you to achieve, and not on the wrong things you think people have done to bring you down makes you the bigger person.
