WHAT NEXT?
As excited as I was about putting my service year behind me, I still
couldn’t help the fear of,
‘What next?’
‘Where will I move to?’
‘Am I going
back home?’ (There was
even no way on earth I was gonna do that!)
‘Will I get a job immediately?’
‘What if I can’t find a job before I exhaust my
savings?’
‘When will I get married?’
‘Do I want to make money first before settling down?’
Bla bla bla……
No, but really, I’m sure quite a number of youths in Nigeria called to
obey the clarion call in the Batch B’ 2016 set are really looking forward to
never having to wear khaki again by October. But how prepared are you to face
the ‘outside world?’
No more ‘allawee’, you know, as small as N19,800 may seem, knowing that
you will get that alert every month has its own relief *shines teeth*.
How about how much you will miss some of the good, “weird” and “crazy” guys
you met while obeying the clarion call? What I miss the most was my 17 days at
the Sagamu Orientation Camp in Ogun State. Gosh! I really do miss those ‘cra-mazing’
OBS peeps *lol*
Tell you, it is a bit scary and what really scared me was not that I
didn’t know or wasn’t sure of what I’m made of, or whether or not I could
survive on my own, but seeing people out there who have at least a Masters’
degree without even a decent job or knowing someone who you’ve always thought
would be very successful not making a good living can shake ones’ confidence.
I’ve come to understand however, that you do yourself no good by worrying too much about
things or situations you can’t change. I mean you must pass out of NYSC,
yeah? So just brace up for what’s to come and make sure you prepare as much as
you can for there is no better time than now.
Listen here, it is not too late to start learning a skill, begin a
course, make contacts, prepare your CV, submit it anywhere and everywhere, take
chances, SAVE and of course pray. Leave no stone unturned, have faith in
yourself and the world will be yours to take darling!
So, this is me being the first to congratulate you on your imminent
Passing Out Parade (POP).
Wee! Wee! Wee!
Waa! Waa! Waa!
